LARP arm armor
Most every LARPer has at least a pair of bracers (armor for the lower arms). They look cool and get you some armor points. I wear 18 gauge mild steel ones that I found on Ebay. They are not too heavy and get me 3 points or armor. They were $35. I have to work to make them secure because unlike leather, steel won's fit your arm too snugly. In the winter I just wear a thick woo coat and put the bracers over it. In the summer I'll probably have to pad them. Clearly, leather bracers will be more convenient but they'll probably be worth fewer armor points. Leather with 18 gauge steel plates might be easy to wear and get full armor points but be heavier than just steel or just leather. If bracers are pretty common, the upper arms are more difficult. A chainmail shirt with sleeves can be the answer here and some breastplates have plates hanging down from the shoulders to cover the upper arms. I was worried that these would slow down my arm movements, so I went with 18 gauge mild steel plates with straps. They got me 3 more armor points and they were only $25.
